One can imagine writing with the use of a pencil, a piece of paper, and an eraser for the purpose of editing. Writing on a piece of paper allows an individual to write anything he wants. This goes the same with wiki websites. The di fference however is that erasures on a piece of paper are grubby, while editing in wiki websites leaves the page spotless. There are several outstanding characteristics of wiki websites which make it prevalent in the virtual world (Matias, 2003). First, it is effortless to edit wiki pages because links to the editing page on each web page provides users the opportunity to easily edit or delete content. Users can just click on a link if they want to edit content and submit the edited version when they are through. Second, wiki websites use simple mark up. If one is not familiar with the HTML language, a wiki software will be able to assist the user in constructing web pages and links. The user is only required to understand simple tags and markup rules. Third, several other wikis are collaborative communities which allows anyone to edit pages. There are wiki websites that allow full access to users but there are some that limit the user’s access of the webpages. Last, it is easy to keep track of data because wiki pages store all activities in sequentially or chronologically. So if one wants to find and retrieve information, one can just sort the data in the database in order to find the targeted information. In conclusion, a wiki software is an efficient way of establishing online collaborative communities. With its innumerable outstanding characteristics, wiki became a popular tool commonly utilized in the virtual community. Collectivism vs. Individualism Essay Collectivism and Individualism are what all political parties, tags, and ideals boil down to: those who want someone or some idea to follow and desire a set of rules so as to maintain order, and those who feel oppressed with too much control from the government, society, etc. and place freedom at highest regards. In the case of Anthem, we are presented with a reality where Collectivism is the dominating philosophy of the world and we see the main characters evolution to an Individualist way of thinking. For all people to be content, an equal balance of the two is ideal. Although, it is nearly impossible to be dead centre equal and all places on Earth lean to one side or the other, so the historic question is which side is better to lean to? Having an excess of anything is never good, whether it’s too much junk food or too much time playing video games, there are always consequences to being gluttonous. This is relevant to government and society as well, because both Collectivism and Individualism can have disastrous outcomes if taken too far. Discrimination will occur in both cases, because being different from the leaders represents a kind of defiance to them and a potential threat to their power which must be squashed. It is easy to recognize this in Collectivism, since one of its main principles are that all people are equal and should be the same so as to maintain that equality. People are persecuted for being different regardless of whether they can help it or not, and Equality who is 6 feet tall and is taller than most men, resulting in him being shunned by teachers and leaders for having this burden of uniqueness â€Å"There is evil in your bones, Equality 7-2521, for your body has grown beyond that of your brothers.†(33). Similarly, when Individualists start to value their views and opinions above others, they will persecute those who think differently from them because it’s not the ‘right way’ and the others present a threat to that person’s individuality. Equality speaks of how he will go back for some of his brothers, â€Å"I shall steal one day, for one last time, into the cursed City of my birth. I shall call to me†¦International 4-8818, and all those like him, Fraternity 2-5503, who cries without reason, and Solidarity 9-6347 who calls for help in the night, and few others†¦They will follow me and I shall lead them to my fortress.† but is very specific about who he is going to bring. He chooses all the people who are fearful and share the same views as him, and would be easiest to convince of following him without defiance. By definition, Collectivism and Individualism are opposites and though they are similar in ways, they are very different on key pr inciples. In order for society to progress, competition and pride must be present to provide the drive, because people always want to improve their surroundings and to be the ones who are credited for doing so, like when the Americans and Russians were in a race to the moon, the desire to be first probably sped up process. Individualism encourages this because people are allowed to possess a desire to better themselves and to learn new things, â€Å"We made it. We created it†¦We can light our tunnel, and the City, and all the Cities with nothing save metal and wires.†(408-418) which in turn benefits the rest of society. Collectivism believes that all people are equal, but in Anthem the authority is especially obsessive over this, going as far to shun those are smarter than others â€Å"it is not good to be different from our brothers, but it is evil to be superior to them.† (66). This ends up severely stunting progress to a mass mediocrity because it is ridiculous to rely on waiting for a bunch of bureaucrats to all agree on something â€Å"Many men in the Home of Scholars have had strange new ideas in the past†¦but when the majority of their brother Scholars voted against them, they abandoned their ideas as all men must†¦ It took fifty years to secure the approval of all the Councils for the Candle, and to decide upon the number needed, and to re-fit the Plans so as to make candles instead of torches.† (534). This is deliberately done because education and innovation are the cure for ignorance, but ignorance is what makes people easier to control â€Å"the achievements which are open to me, but closed forever to my brothers, for their minds are shackled to the weakest and dullest among them.† (763), so naturally they try to suppress advancements. People are a lot like when you shake an unopened bottle of soda, the more pressure you put them under and the more they are confined, the closer they are to rupturing and rebellion. The endless laws and expectations of the Collectivist City make for an unstable environment and it’s impossible for everyone to constantly keep up with these expectations. Citizens break the mold and always seem happier once they do, with the Saint of the pyre â€Å"They walked to the pyre, and their step did not falter. And of all the faces on that square, of all the faces which shrieked and screamed and spat curses upon them, theirs was the calmest and happiest face.† (329) and when Equality escapes into the Uncharted Forest to protect his light from those who want to destroy it â€Å"We seized our box, we shoved them aside and we ran to the window†¦.We knew only that we must run, run to the end of the world, to the end of our days†¦.We built it for its own sake. It is above all our brothers to us, and its truth is above their truth.† (543-561). In contrast, Individualism gives people the space to relax and enjoy their lives â€Å"We thought suddenly that we could lie thus as long as we wished, and we laughed aloud at the thought. We could also rise, or run, or leap, or fall down again.† (572), and what is there to rebel over that? Therefore, even though Collectivism sounds like a great idea on paper, it’s just not natural for people to live that way. Imagine how the world would be if we all looked the same, had the same interests and the same personalities; there would be nothing to talk about, no new discoveries to be made and no one to balance out our faults. If the world was meant to be gray-scale, why is it in full color? If everyone is supposed to be the same, why do we all have our own unique sets of DNA? Diversity is what makes the world a beautiful and interesting place.

Revolutions in households can also occur when traditions that are contrary to the desires of one, interfere with the values of another. In the book "Like Water for Chocolate," a major revolution develops between mother and daughter, Mama Elena and Tita. Like most revolutions, traditions are the major factor in the revolution that happens between these two; Tradition states that the youngest daughter must not marry, but must take care of the mother until she dies. Nevertheless, when a young man decides to ask for Tita's hand in marriage, Mama Elena flat out refuses to hear any more about the subject. She says to Tita on page 10, "If he intends to ask for your hand, tell him not to bother . . ." Then Tita realizes the hopelessness of her situation and from that moment on she swore "to protest her mother's ruling" (11). The revolution continues to build until finally after many years of torment by her mother, Tita leaves the family ranch. Then after awhile, when Mama Elena becomes paralyzed by bandits, Tita feels compelled to return to the ranch and care for her mother. In returning Tita felt that her return humiliated her mother because how cruelly she had treated her daughter in the past (130). When Tita had made dinner for her mother, Mama Elena brutally rejected her kindness. Tita could not understand why her mother treated her cruelly, "she didn't understand Mama Elena's attitude . . . It was beyond her comprehension that one person, whatever her relationship with another, could reject the kind gesture in such a brutal manner . . ." (130-131). After all that they had gone through, Tita thought at least some things had changed. Of course nothing had changed because Mama Elena saw her daughter as she saw her self many years before. But after her mother's death Tita was enlightened when see discovered her mother's love letters from José, her mother's only true love (137). As Tita read her mothers letters, she discovered the reason behind her mother's personality, both psychologically and emotionally. "José was the love of her life. In this paper, we evaluate a set of three medical related websites namely www.nln.org for the National league of Nursing, www.nursingworld.org for the American Nursing Association, www.ama-assn.org for the American Medical Association and the https://www.ncsbn.org/ for the National Council for State boards in Nursing. We also evaluate an Archives resource site namely http://thomas.loc.gov or the Thomas, the website of the Library of Congress of the United States of America.Prior to presenting the evaluation we briefly describe each website: the purpose of these sites and their current set-up. We then go into the evaluation proper where we analyze the overall content, style and functionality of each site. In the overall content of the websites the quality of the information being presented and the comprehensiveness of the information is assessed. Moreover, how current the information located in the websites and where they were derived or from what authority this information was derive d is also assessed. Lastly, in evaluating the style and functionality of the sites we take into consideration the layout or the manner content is presented within the sites, ease in navigating the sites, its compatibility with respect to various browsers, information space with respect to advertising pages, and the speed upon which it is accessed through the internet.The first of the sites to be evaluated is www.nursingworld.org, the official website of the American Nursing Association (ANA). Briefly, ‘ANA is the only full-service professional organization representing the nation's 2.9 million registered nurses (RNs) (About the American Nurses association, http://www.nursingworld.org/about/)’ that advances nursing through imbibing high standards, promoting the economic welfare in their workplace and by proactively lobbying governmental agencies on issues affecting them.For the overall content, the website contains comprehensive and relevant information supportive of the purpose of ANA mentioned previously. The site has sections on information and services, newsroom and nursing issues/programs that sustain continuous support for promoting high standards in the nursing practice. It also has a section for showing their advocacies and initiatives for nurses’ general welfare, with sub-sections directing users to view publications relevant to nurses in the United States. As for the currency of the documents, the documents are up to date with uploaded documents as latest as January 11, 2007 (‘Press releases from the American Nurses Association†, http://www.nursingworld.org/pressrel/). As for the authority of the documents published, the documents that are published have their corresponding sources accompanying them. All these information are presented in a notably clear and concise fashion.For the style and functionality of the website, the overall layout is easily understandable. The site can be easily navigated and the information is clearly sorted out for easy access, even though the site carries a lot of information it is surprisingly accessible. On the other hand, the address of the site (www.nursingworld.org) is a bit misleading if you were to guess what would be the site of ANA and a name as www.ana.org or www.americannursingassociation.org may have been the better URL. The use of images instead of flash movies may have the decreased the site’s overall aesthetic impact to the user but without the use of flash movies, the site can then be easily accessible from any computer with varying internet speed with information prompting fast. However as compared to the other sites and the content they hold, Thomas is appreciably easy to understand-simple as it possibly can. In terms of the authority, the information presented by the Thomas is undoubtedly accurate and comes from directly from the source that is Congress. In addition, the documents stored in the site are the most current in the field, with daily updates coming directly from Congress. Links are also presented in the site that are relevant to users who wish to browse other relevant legislation.In terms of style and functionality, the Thomas has a simple layout and aesthetic appearance as compared to the other sites. Due to this openness foreign companies have attracted the consumption of wine from the middle-class, generating an increase in the last years of wine sales. Wine consumption continues to grow at a rapid rate in the country. The Chinese wine market is a complicated due to its numerous wine producers (local producers) and wine companies entering china to exploit the wine market. China as the most populated country in the world is a commercial paradise for all the enterprises wanting to expand to new markets. By the gain in market share by the introduction of new products to the Chinese market, foreign companies take advantage of a growing market. In the last years the French wine companies have been exporting to china expecting to gain market share in the wine sector taking advantage of one of the world’s fastest growing economy. For French wine export companies, it is important to understand the market, due to the Chinese wine companies and local wine production and how they have been gaining ground in the wine market. Due to the countries emerging economy and the growth in economical aspects the population in china have been entering a new era of consumption of foreign products, and due to this reasons most foreign companies have set up subsidiaries or the most common joint ventures with other Chinese companies to enter the country’s market and gain some ground on the major cities. One of the most important and emerging sectors in the Chinese society are the luxurious products. After the purchasing power of the individuals, luxurious products have acquired more interest and represent an improvement in status of the Chinese population either local or international status. The wine sector represents an important sector for upcoming expenditures for the Chinese population, although the purchase of wine is more business oriented than for personal consumption. The preferred wines for this type of consumption are the high-end French wines (Bordeaux and Burgundy). The market situation is very open nowadays due to the facility of the Chinese consumers o access wines imported from major foreign producing countries as well as local produced wines (France, Italy, USA, Chile and Australia). To have great success in the Chinese wine market the companies have to apply a strong marketing promotion compared to the local mass promotions by Chinese producers. The foreign brands have to apply a strong marketing promotion, but due to lack of resources the advertisements from foreign companies has a limited reach. To improve the image of foreign wine brands, foreign companies must intensify their promotions and advertisements, generate a consumer education by creating events, wine demonstrations and wine-food events, as well as lowering the prices to accommodate them to the population’s purchasing power (different levels of purchasing power). A Biography of Sylvia Plath Sylvia Plath was born in Boston in 1932, daughter of a German immigrant biology professor, an authority on bees, and his Austrian-American wife. At 8, bio-picSylvia suffered her first great loss: her father died suddenly after surgery for complications of undiagnosed diabetes, and she attained her first literary recognition: a poem published in The Boston Herald. She grew up in Wellesley, in an extremely close relationship with her widowed mother Aurelia. She sent out many poems and stories which were rejected before she began to see them published in national periodicals (Seventeen, The Christian Science Monitor) in 1950. Plaths Education Plath was a star student and an ambitious apprentice writer. She attended Smith College on scholarship and won a guest editorship at Mademoiselle in New York City in the summer of 1953. Later that summer, having learned that she had not been admitted to the Harvard summer writing program for which she’d applied, Sylvia attempted suicide and was treated for depression at McLean Hospital. She returned to Smith the next spring, wrote her honors thesis on the double in Dostoevsky (â€Å"The Magic Mirror†), and graduated summa cum laude in 1955, with a Fulbright scholarship to study at Newnham College, Cambridge. Plaths Marriage to Ted Hughes The meeting between Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes is legendary, recreated in the biopic  Sylvia. Sylvia had read St. Botolph’s Review, was impressed by Hughes’ poems and went to the publication party determined to meet him. She recited his poems to him, it is said they danced, drank and kissed and she bit him on the cheek until he bled, and they were married within a few months, on Bloomsday 1956. When she completed her studies in 1957, Plath was offered a teaching position back at Smith and the couple returned to America. But after a year, she left academia and she and Ted devoted their life together to writing. Plath and Hughes in England In December 1959, Ted and pregnant Sylvia sailed back to England; Ted wanted his child to be born in his home country. They settled in London, Frieda was born in April 1960, and Sylvia’s first collection, The Colossus, was published in October. In 1961, she suffered a miscarriage and other health troubles, was given a â€Å"first look† contract by The New Yorker and began work on her autobiographical novel, The Bell Jar. When the couple moved to Court Green manor house in Devon, they let their London flat to a poet and his wife, David and Assia Wevill, fatefully: it was Ted’s affair with Assia that broke up their marriage. Plaths Suicide Sylvia’s second child, Nicholas, was born in January 1962. It was during that year that she found her authentic poetic voice, writing the intense and crystalline poems later published in Ariel, even while managing the household and taking care of her two children essentially alone. In the fall she and Hughes separated, in December she moved back to London, to a flat where Yeats had once lived, and The Bell Jar was published under a pseudonym in January 1963. It was an extraordinarily cold winter and the children were sick. Sylvia left them in a separate aired-out room and gassed herself to death on February 11, 1963. The Plath Mystique After Death Sylvia Plath was only 30 years old when she committed suicide, and since her death, she has been elevated to the status of feminist icon and pioneer woman poet. Serious critics may quibble with the fan cult that has arisen around Plath, but her poetry is undeniably beautiful and powerful, and it is generally recognized as the most influential American work of the 20th century- in 1982, she became the first poet to be awarded the Pulitzer Prize posthumously, for her Collected Poems. Law School Laptop Requirements Some law schools have laptop or other computer/software requirements, so the first thing you should do is check those before you buy anything; keep in mind that some law schools still arent Mac-friendly for taking exams. Laptops Through Your Law School Many schools offer laptops through their own stores, but don’t automatically assume thats where youll get the best price or the one thats best for your needs; some schools do, though, offer to increase financial aid packages in you purchase through their store. Accordingly, be sure to consider all costs when buying a laptop for law school, and be sure to check the prices in the bookstore. If you don’t purchase your computer through your school, be on the lookout for back to school deals from major retailers like Best Buy. The Apple Store also has specials that throw in something extra if you buy a Mac for school. Weight of the Laptop If you plan on using your laptop in class, remember youll be carrying it around every day along with many heavy books. Try to buy a laptop that is as lightweight as possible for your needs, but as thinner laptops can cost considerably more, be sure to balance cost as well,  i.e., carrying around an extra half pound may be preferable to spending an extra $500. If you’re not going to invest in an â€Å"Ultrabook,† you might want to consider a good and comfortable laptop bag to carry your computer in. Screen Size Keeping in mind the weight, also consider that youll be looking at your laptop a lot over the next three years, so a tiny screen probably isnt to your advantage. We don’t recommend anything under 13 inches, and anything nearing 17 inches gets heavy and more expensive. Most screens are 1080p nowadays, but something 720p will do. Buying a laptop with touchscreen functionality comes down to personal preference, but really consider whether or not you’d use this feature considering those laptops are usually more expensive. Try to find a happy middle ground between the size of screen you want and the weight youre willing and able to lug around. Remember RAM Most computers come with at least a gigabyte of RAM, which should be plenty for you during law school. That said, if you can afford to go more than a few gigabytes, your computer will run faster, and you wont have to worry about upgrading the RAM over the next three years. Hard Drive Space Youll want at least 40GB for law school, but if you also plan on storing music, games, or other entertainment as well, think about going higher.
